If you can get to this concert on the weekend, do so. They are great.
😻 *Promo sm*
It was an amazing concert, one of the best I think I have ever seen.
Thank you. We are thrilled you enjoy it. ☺
Where?
That’s my school
Everyone: Let's find a brett.
Ray added a soul to the girl’s song. Make it so vivid not just play the note and finish.
Great lesson but in front of an audience in an auditorium is indeed strange? Lessons should be held in a class room. Fine, invite 10 others in the class. A small intimate setting and extend the lesson for hours. There's too much to learn.
Wow excellent class! Thanx a million for sharing!
When are you coming to South Africa?

Wow that teacher guy is not bad, he should consider doing violin professionally
One of the best masterclass I have ever seen! This piece for pianist and violinist is like Mt.Everest , not easy. Probably one of the deepest in emotion and hardest in techniques pieces ! Ray is no doubt one of the best violinists we have in this planet. For his age , then 25 years old. He is teaching very well.
Nice seeing Brett! Also, that is a high quality youth orchestra - they and Mr. Barton sound great together!
is this a masterclass or just ray playing 80% of the time instead of teaching
It's a masterclass. Sorry you missed it.
Showing is teaching, provided the student and listener are both receptive.
Oh a year prior Brett Yang was playing at ayo. That would have been interesting.
hi
i love how ray chen’s accent changes from american to aussie depending on his environment. international version of code switching
It’s called being fake , that’s Rayban 🙌🏻
I go to that school but I move schools because they did it teach anyone so never go there
I was very Lucky to see Loni at Michael and Elise's wedding, The harp music and singing was awesome. I normally not into the harp. But Loni was fantastic. Highly recommended.!
Hi Loni! Check out this talk on the Fitzpatrick Harp! ua-cam.com/video/YnOPi7qT3J8/v-deo.html
The sound Ray Chen gets from his violin is so incredibly glorious and his musical, emotional playing gives me chills and warms my heart at the same time! I love the soloist - she has such a lovely vibrato and some beautiful moments utilizing Ray's coaching re the angle on the E string.
Please give me the name of the piece was playing in background. Thank you so muchhh!
Fabulous
Hi I am David ! Thank you for teaching me at state music camp this week . I had a wonderful time seating next to you . Have a outstanding career (not Korea as I previously wrongly spelled) Phoebe !🎻 Kind regards .
Phoebe!!!! I’m Emily from state music camp violin 1 I have had the most wonderful time with you. You are and brilliant and excellent teacher!!!
Brilliant.
Well done AYO. A special congratulations to Luca.
Well done AYO!
😇
3:17 BRETT :)
He looks dead haha
Ray Chen is so friendly and so fun, so modest
"Show me that back" got me hahahah. 😂
As we can see, a wild brett lives here, in his natural habitat
brett 0:51
This talented guy, Ray, switches to Aussie accent, American accent and Chinese depending on the circumstances....
I don't think pianist knew we can hear her.
A beautiful meld of image and music. Bravo.
Ah the liberating lift of music.
It is true what he said in the beginning, is that you have to *know* how and what you are going to phrase and not just randomly phrase everything. You have to know exactly how you want to phrase it and also have more options, if you get lost or some sort.
If "you get lost", you just play some notes that come into your mind, waiting till you remember the rest of the score.
She did a great job and i would've been super nervious playing for Ray. Good tips that will improve my playing and she will be even better....the leaning to get a better angle on the E string was great!!!! Cheers from America
OK BUT RAY CHEN ISNT AUSTRALIAN IM SO CONFUSED
he is lol
@@SaccharineCHNOS WHY DOES HE SPEAK WITH AN AMERICAN ACCENT NOW THEN
@@joeweinberg3108 he went to Curtis at around age 12 or something (correction 15) in america. He also doesnt like the attention that it gets outside Australia
@@SaccharineCHNOS oh interesting
Ray Chen is Australian-Taiwanese and grew up in Brisbane until he was 15, when he was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music in America.
What a wonderful masterclass! And the piece is beautiful, too
5% comments: normal comments 95% comments: *B R E T T*
the ratio is 19/21, so yeah you're right
@@DaviSilva-oc7iv Wow, I actually didn’t count it, I just guessed and it’s pretty close
The way that we can't see brett cuz in almost all the shots, hes behind joshua bell-
What is the piece
Elgar violin and piano sonata in E minor first movement
little did Brett know that 7 years later...
I don't even play violin, but I've learned so much anyway from watching master classes like this one. I can appreciate performances more as a result. Knowing how musicians approach pieces and how they decide the way the'll play certain passages helps me pick up on things as I listen to a performance. It's really increased my understanding of the music.
awesome harp room and pool!
He's the violnist that plays Lace's theme in Hollow Knight :D
